The Jam for Justice will bring six bands to the Celtic Fox, 118 SW 8th, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday. Get there early and check out the Freedom Project Showcase, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m. and features: Greg Fox, Ellie Smith, Steve and Dorthy Halley, Joey Desch, David Shaffer, Chris Aytes, Nate Dingman, Martinez Hillard and more.

The Jam for Justice line-up is:

  • 5 p.m. - Bridges
  • 6 p.m. -- Chris Aytes & The Good Ambition
  • 7 p.m. -- Alexander and The Greats
  • 8 p.m. --:Slow Ya Roll
  • 9:30 p.m. -- Ellie Smith & The Commotion
  • 11 p.m. -- Cowboy Indian Bear

Donations from this year's events go to the Topeka Center for Safety and Empowerment, to be used for Human Trafficking prevention and training.

The Jam for Justice is part of the annual WU Slavery Awareness Week, organized by the Social Justice League of Washburn University. Along with the Topeka Center for Peace and Justice, the league will hold several events this year to raise your awareness about slavery, focusing on what's going on right here in Kansas. Other events for awareness week include:

  • "Ruined," the Pulitzer-winning play by Lynn Nottage, who wrote the piece after traveling to Africa to interview refugee women who had been victimized by the war in Congo. 7:30 p.m. Friday, Andrew J. & Georgia Neese-Gray Theater, Washburn University.
  • "Not My Life," a documentary on global human trafficking, highlighting a Kansas case. 7 p.m. Monday, Henderson Resource Learning Center, Room 100, Washburn University.
Kansas Attorney General's Human Trafficking Advisory Board Panel Discussion. 7 p.m. Tuesday, Henderson Resource Learning Center, Room 100, Washburn University.
